First Time in Pakistan's Mountains? Here's Where to Start

Pakistan's northern mountains are among the most dramatic on Earth — and the good news is you don't need to be an experienced mountaineer to experience them. Whether you have four days or two weeks, there's a trek here that fits.

Start with Fairy Meadows (5 days)

If you've never done a multi-day trek before, Fairy Meadows is where we'd send you first. The hiking is manageable, the scenery is extraordinary, and standing in a meadow with Nanga Parbat — the ninth-highest mountain on Earth — filling the sky above you is one of those moments that doesn't leave you. The jeep ride up the cliff track alone is an adventure.

Try Haramosh for something wilder (5 days)

If you want to go somewhere most tourists never reach, Haramosh Valley and Kutwal Lake is the answer. The drive through Naran, the jeep into the valley and the two-day trek to the lake take you completely off the beaten path. It's a raw, peaceful part of Pakistan that very few outsiders have seen.

A long weekend at the lakes (4 days)

Saral and Dudipatsar Lakes in Kaghan Valley is one of the most rewarding short treks in the country. You connect two stunning high-altitude lakes through alpine meadows — and you can do the whole thing in four days from Islamabad. Perfect for anyone with a limited window but a big appetite for the mountains.

What to expect on your first trek

  • Our guides stay with the group — no one gets left behind
  • Porters carry the heavy equipment; you carry a light daypack
  • We provide sleeping bags, tents and all meals on trek
  • Fitness helps, but you don't need prior trekking experience for our moderate trips

Not sure which trek is right for you? Get in touch and we'll help you find the perfect fit for your dates, budget and experience level.
